Matthew Smith, STEM Board Member
Matthew Smith is Vice President of Engineering for United Launch Alliance (ULA) headquartered in Denver, Colorado. In this role, Smith has company-level responsibility for engineering personnel, processes, tools, products, technical oversight and launch readiness certification activities. Matthew is a member of the Governor’s Systems Transformation Sub-Committee for the P-20 Education Counsel.

Darrell Phippen, Board Member
Darrell is privileged to be a design manager for United Launch Alliance (ULA) leading a team of engineers creating new payload accommodation interface hardware between the launch vehicle and our nation’s newest space assets. After receiving his BS in Mechanical Engineering his career has led him through solar energy projects in the US, Spain, Mexico and and Somalia, as well as structural design, test and launch support of launch vehicles and satellites. Outside of ULA and STEM Academy Darrell is currently a board member of an art museum, manager of an art studio, president of the Douglas County Farm Bureau, elder in a local church, husband and father of five children.

Kim Sasko, Parent Board Member
As Senior Director of Oracle’s On Demand Global Delivery Organization, Kim is responsible for Global Incident and Event Management services. Prior to joining Oracle, Kim was the first-ever Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) client executive for Hewlett-Packard (HP). In 2003, Kim was promoted to Vice President of the HP Services Americas Operations and IT organization. Kim holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Indiana University and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Denver. Kim and her husband Hal are the parents of three children, including twins, who will be sixth graders at STEM in 2011. (Read More)

Suzanne Stromberg, Parent Board Member
Suzanne Stromberg serves as a Senior Instructor and Director of Undergraduate Internships in the Department of Communication at University of Colorado Denver.  Her areas of specialty include the college to career transition process, business communication, experiential education, and web based education. Additionally, she consults and coaches business professionals in a variety of areas, including presentation skills, career development, and peak performance.  Ms. Stromberg lives in Littleton with her husband and three children, ages 4, 9, and 11. Her eldest will be a sixth grader at STEM in the fall of 2011.

Board Meetings
The next STEM Board Meeting will take place on Saturday Afternoon May 12, at 4 pm in the STEM Conference Room. The purpose of this meeting is to present the proposed FY 2012 Budget.
