Enrollment

STEM School Highlands Ranch is a Douglas County School District Charter School and operates under the Enrollment Calendar of the District.

New Student Enrollment Process

Beginning on October 1, 2023, STEM School Highlands Ranch has transitioned to the Douglas County School District Open Enrollment Tool for enrollment for the 2024-25 school year.

First Round Open Enrollment for the 2024-25 school year opens on Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 8 a.m. It closes on Friday, Dec. 1, at 4 p.m. Schools will extend offers of open enrollment based on space availability by Friday, Dec. 8. Parents can see offers in the EngagED Parent Portal on Monday, Dec. 11, at 8 a.m. and will have until Monday, Dec. 18, at 4 p.m., to log back in and accept any open enrollment offers. If you did not receive any offers during the First Round, you will remain on a waitlist for the Second Round of Open Enrollment, which opens on Monday, Jan. 22, at 8 a.m.

Priority will be given in this order:

  1. Founding Families*
  2. Siblings of current STEM students
  3. Children and grandchildren of staff and board members*
  4. DCSD Residents
  5. Prior waitlisted families

* Founding families and children and grandchildren of staff and board members will need to email [email protected]g in order to provide proof that they meet these criteria.

Priority in enrollment does not guarantee enrollment if there is no availability at the student’s grade level. Due to enrollment priorities, STEM cannot release information regarding a particular prospective student’s position. Families not accepted during the current school year must reapply, as the list does not carry over from year to year.

For questions, concerns or comments, please email us at [email protected].

New and Returning Students

Please complete the Intent to Return to STEM form by Friday, Dec. 16, 2023

Do you Intend to Return for the 2024-25 School Year?

It’s that time of year! We’re starting to prepare for the 2024-25 School Year, and we need our CURRENT STEM Families to complete the Intent to Return/Not Return process.

This information will help our Leadership Team plan for the new school year as it pertains to budgeting, facility use, staffing and more. This process also helps us to know how many new students we will have openings for in the upcoming school year so that we can invite students during the Open Enrollment window.

Please complete the form via the button below for each of your CURRENTLY ATTENDING STEM students so that we know your student is either returning or not returning to STEM. Completing the form does not require your student to attend STEM for next year should you change your enrollment plans.

Current Families with Siblings Wanting to Attend STEM

Does your current STEM student have a sibling interested in attending STEM for the 2024-25 school year? Did you know that they have priority during the Open Enrollment window? Please be sure to complete the Open Enrollment process through the DCSD Engage Portal during the Open Enrollment window starting on November 1. No need to let us know as we’ll automatically check for siblings in Infinite Campus.

DCSD Open Enrollment Window Information

The Douglas County School District’s Open Enrollment Window is now open. However, current STEM families who wish to stay at STEM for next year DO NOT complete that process. Your student(s) will be automatically enrolled.

The DCSD Open Enrollment Process (via their website) is if your student is interested in attending their neighborhood school or another school that uses the DCSD Open Enrollment Process. The First Round of the Open Enrollment Window for DCSD will close on December 1 at 4 p.m. The Second Round of the Open Enrollment Window will open on January 22 at 8 a.m. and close on August 1, 2024, at 4 p.m.

(Note: Parents of any students who wish to go back to their neighborhood middle school for their 7th-grade year must file an intent to return form, by January 10, 2023; applicable also for parents of 6th-grade students whose attendance area is within the Cimarron Middle School, Rocky Heights Middle School and Sagewood Middle School boundaries.)

Moving to out of state or to another school? Please click the buttons below to access out Withdrawl Form and our Records Release form. Both should be submitted to [email protected].

Come Tour Our School!

Our doors are open every Wednesday for tours starting at 9 a.m. for our Secondary School and at 10 a.m. for our Elementary School. There is no need to sign up. Just meet in the Secondary School Lobby (East side of school) for the Secondary School tour at 9 a.m. or in the Elementary School Lobby (West side of school) at 10 a.m. for the Elementary School Tour. We ask that you arrive about 10 minutes early so the group is ready to go on time.

You will need to have your driver’s license to have a visitor badge made. Please check our website for school holidays, closures or other reasons the Wednesday tour might be canceled.

Interest Form

During the timeframe when the DCSD Open Enrollment Tool is not accepting names, families can put their name on STEM’s Interest Form to receive notifications as to when the DCSD Open Enrollment Tool will open. This list will also allow our registrar to communicate with families on upcoming tours. Completing the STEM Interest Form does not guarantee enrollment for the potential student, nor does it legally bind families to enroll in STEM. Families can find the Interest Form at stemk12.org/enrollment.
